MAYOR LITO BEGINS TERM WITH CLEAN-UP DRIVE

July 2, 2007 marks the first official day of the assumption of office by the new municipal officials led by Hon. Joselito F. Piñol as Municipal Mayor, Hon. Bernie F. Abasques, Vice Mayor and the 8 new municipal councilors.

The day started with a simple program in front of the Municipal hall and highlighted by a mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Hipolito Paracha, parish priest of the Sta. Teresita Parish of Mlang, Cotabato. Mayor Pinol, immediately thereafter, was ceremonially conveyed to his office by his supporters and the municipal employees. Vice Mayor Abasques was also accompanied by supporters and friends in his ceremonial entrance to the Vice Mayor’s Office.

All schools in the poblacion participated in the clean-up drive by assigning students in their adopted streets. All gathered waste materials were not burned in keeping with the Clean Air Act; piles were immediately collected by garbage trucks. Together with the municipal employees members, CSOs such as the Karancho Bike Riders Club, the Mlang Reservists, Mlang Public Market Vendors’ Association, Mlang Van Drivers-Operators Association and the Mlang-Tulunan Jeepney Operators -Drivers Association also did the cleaning.

Municipal Mayor Joselito F. Piñol emphasized that the people of Mlang need to regain the honor that we had achieved in the past years when our town was known as the cleanest and greenest municipality in the whole Philippines. Moreover, he enjoined everyone to clean the surroundings to prevent the prevalence of dengue now that we are experiencing the rainy season in earnest. A lunch fellowship followed the morning’s activities at the SB Session Hall.
